- Raja Dinkar Kelkar Museum - Housed in a Rajasthani style building, this museum holds a collection of Indian arts and crafts. It is the collection of an individual and boasts of over 17000 artifacts. The collection ranges from everyday items to antiques, doors and jewelry. The elephant-shaped foot scrubber, a brass scorpion that reveals a secret lock and eight images of Lord Ganesha carved on a beam are some of the best known masterpieces preserved here.
- Shaniwar Wada - This was the royal residence of the Peshwas. It was once destroyed by a major fire that broke out here, and lost most of its interiors. The brass gates and the charming pools however remained untouched and are still as appealing. Located in the heart of the city, the palace continues to symbolize Pune cultural heritage. The entire Maratha history is showcased here during the Light & Sound Show that is held here every evening.
- Aga Khan Palace - A major historical landmark, the Aga Khan Palace is a lovely building with visible Italian influence in architecture. It is historically important as Mahatma Gandhi and his wife Kasturba were detained here during the 1942 Quit India Movement. Kasturba passed away in this Palace and later the owner, Prince Aga Khan donated the palace to erect a memorial in the memory of Gandhi and his wife. The Samadhi of Kasturba is present in the backyard of the palace. Rare photos and paintings of the era are present here.
- Parvati Hill Temples - Located on a hillock, this area has a number of temples and was built by Balaji Baji Rao. Accessible through a steep flight of more than 100 steps, the temple area gives a panoramic view of the city of Pune. The temples here enshrine Parvati and Devdeveshwar and were once the private shrine of the Peshwas. The Museum here houses portrait of the Peshwas and also preserves some ancient coins and manuscripts.
- Pune University - It is one of the oldest universities in the country and has some of the most magnificent mansions from the era. One of these in Ganeshkhind was the Monsoon residence of the Governor of Mumbai.
- Pataleshwar Caves - These are 8th century caves tucked in the heart of the city. Carved out of a single boulder, the caves remind much of the Ellora caves. Massive pillars are a regular feature of the caves. It even enshrines Lord Shiva and Nandi bull and draws devotees everyday.
- Bund Garden - With an aim to provide water to the poor during Summer, the garden was laid by Sir Jamshedji Jeejeebhoy. It is now a major attraction with tourists and locals for the water bound activites it provides. It is mainly visited for its boat and horse rides and the bhel-puri and pani-puri vendors.
- Bhimshankar Wildlife Sanctuary - Spreading over districts of Pune, Raigad and Thane, this area was declared a wildlife sanctuary in 1974. The region has semi-evergreen forests as well as western tropical hill forests. It is also the source of two major tributaries of Krishna, namely Bhim and Ghod.
