  1. National Defence Academy (NDA): Situated at Khadakvasla, 17 kms. from Pune railway station. This academy imparts basic training to the cadets of all three branches of the services, Army, Air Force and Navy.
    There are Bus services at a fairly frequent rate from Pune Railway Station and Deccan Gymkhana. Other modes such as Auto Rickshaw, Cars, Jeeps etc can also be hired to reach NDA

  2. Empress Botanical Gardens: Located to the north of St. Patrick's Cathedral. This garden with fine tropical trees and a small zoo is a 'must see' for all nature lovers.

  3. Shaniwarwada Palace: During the glorious days of the erstwhile Peshawas in the 18th Century, this palace was their multi-storeyed home. It was built in 1736 and destroyed in a major fire in 1827. The only remains that include now are the fortified outer walls, a lotus pond and a majestic Nagarkhana that give a glimpse of past grandeur.

  4. Raja Dinkar Kelkar Museum: This musuem is an enormous one- man collection of over 17,000 artefacts ranging from items of everyday use to antiques, ornamental doors, miniatures and jewellery.
    Housed in a traditional Marathi home, most interesting sections of the collection include utensils, betel-nut cutters, combs and other items used by Marathi women down the ages. The elephant-shaped foot scrubber, a brass scorpion that reveals a secret lock and eight images of Lord Ganesha carved on a beam makes it a place worth a visit in Pune

  5. The Aga Khan Palace is an impressive colonial style building. It is of national and historical relevance as it was here that the Briitish confined Mahatma Gandhi under house arrest. The salons and suites of the palace housed leaders of India's freedom struggle and many an important meeting was held here during the Quit India Movement in 1942.

  6. Osho Commune International: The controversial ashram of Osho (also known as Rajneesh) is located in Koregaon Park. It is a lush green 24-acre commune and The Wall Street Journal describes it as the "spiritual Disneyland for disaffected First World yuppies". A number of programs with special emphasis on new-age meditation are conducted here.

  7. Film and Television Institute of India : Situated in the Law College Street, Film and Television Institute of India (FTII) of Pune is one of the most prominent film schools in Asia. It has courses for specialization in direction, editing, screenplay, photography and music.
    A large number of the Indian (Hindi) film fraternity has been groomed at this institute.

  8. Katraj Snake Park: Situated on the Pune Satara Highway near the Bhartiya Vidyapeeth University. Open on all days except, Wednesday between 10:30 to 17:30. The recent addition is the zoo.
    In order to give a better insight about this dreaded creature, many snake festivals and snake awareness programs are held periodically.

  9. Pune University: The oldest educational institute at Ganeshkhind in Pune, was formed in 1948 and has been affiliated to many educational boards of Maharashtra. The Campus sprawls across 400 acres of lush green expanse of land with quiet roads and small open eateries towards the city limits.

    It was once the official residence of the Governor of Mumbai during the monsoons. A large building in the Italian Gothic style built with local grey tap rock, it has square tower 40-m high and well-maintained lawns. A great favourite spot for enthusiastic joggers and health freaks.
